Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton played in the team’s 10-7 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders at Mile High Stadium despite having been diagnosed with testicular cancer days earlier. The 31-year-old logged nine tackles in the game and underwent surgery the following Friday to remove an early-stage tumor.
Singleton said his health concerns began about two weeks before the diagnosis, when a drug test showed elevated levels of the hormone hCG. A urologist’s ultrasound last week confirmed the presence of testicular cancer, leading to the operation.
After the procedure, Singleton said he is recovering and expects to be back on the field “in the coming weeks” while he waits for additional test results. He described his prognosis as good.
Singleton also explained he wrestled with whether to make the diagnosis public but ultimately chose to share in hopes of encouraging others to monitor their health. He emphasized that early detection and regular screenings can save lives and spare loved ones unnecessary grief, urging people to pay attention to changes in their bodies.
