Severe flash floods have torn through the Nepal–Tibet border region, destroying towns, sweeping away bridges and other infrastructure, and inundating large areas. Local authorities report hundreds of confirmed deaths and hundreds more missing as search-and-rescue efforts continue amid widespread devastation.
BBC Verify has reconstructed the flood’s path by cross-checking verified video footage with satellite imagery to map where waters surged and how the damage unfolded. That reconstruction helps identify the communities most affected and the likely sequence of events that produced the deadly flash flood. Merlyn Thomas reports.
